01

“Please let me go,” said the mouse. “One day I may help you.”
The lion smiled. He lifted his paw and let the mouse go.
02

Some time later, the lion was caught in a net.
He could not get free.
The little mouse came by and saw him.
03

The mouse chewed through the ropes.
The lion stood up, free.
“You see?” said the mouse. “I was right.”

And that is the moral of our story: a small kindness can help you later.
Be kind, even to someone small. A friend may help you when you need it.
